Arwen Bird, Principal
My ancestors settled in the Pacific Northwest for many reasons, among them the beauty and rich biodiversity of this region. My maternal great grandfather built brick ovens to process coal in Washington State, extracting resources and promoting carbon inputs into the atmosphere. A century later, my father worked throughout the western US to remediate soils contaminated by toxins, including fossil fuels. Drawing on connections with ancestors living and past, I use knowledge, skill and experiences I have gained through work in human rights, social justice and natural sciences to promote healing, cultural, economic and ecological health, for generations to come.
